than 6,000 images taken by the Viking Orbiters, the 12" globe approximates the
planet’s true color. Recently reprinted, this classic Mars globe features
updated labels, such as Curiosity's landing site in Gale Crater, as well as the
newest results from myriad orbiters and rovers, summarized in an accompanying
booklet. Produced in cooperation with NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey, the
globe includes official names for 140 features. The 12" topographical Mars globe accurately portrays topographical features of Mars. Cartography is based on millions of laser-altimeter measurements collected by NASA's Mars Global Surveyor orbiter. Features Red Planet's highest volcanoes, largest impact basins, and deepest canyons. Globe is color-coded to highlight and easily identify the impressive variations in planet elevations. More than 150 surface features are labeled with their official names.
