Desktop world globe is a
part of the Frank Lloyd Wright Collection® Globes. In 1928, Frank Lloyd Wright
began creating a major remodeling project of the existing resort, the San Marcos
in the Desert Hotel on the outskirts of Phoenix. The project was never completed
due to the 1929 stock market crash, but the building design and the interior
renderings contain a variety of interesting furniture and decorative features.
This adapted world globe stand showcases the 60 degree angled legs and the hexagonal top of a small accent table designed for the special Dining Pavilion bordered by the garden terraces of the San Marcos in the Desert Hotel, Chandler, Arizona. |

This 12" desktop world globe is a part of architect Frank Lloyd Wright Collection® Globes. In 1952, the renowned architect developed a series of hexagonal metal furniture to compliment the geometric shape of Price Tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, which he designed. T he combination of wood/metal base of the Hexagon world globe resembles the hexagonal designs envisioned by Wright. The metal base is triangular, the 12" antique oceans world globe is supported by a full swing meridian inserted within a hexagon shaped wooden part.
