Globe-making started at Tecnodidattica company in Italy in 1949 when father,
Riccardo Donati and son, Renato experimented with handmade globes for
educational purposes to add to their line of office supplies and stationery.
Today Tecnodidattica supplies the world with National Geographic Globes and this
particularly fine collection of Atmosphere globes. Largely still handmade, the
globes are blown much like glass, and assembled on their bases using designs
from various gifted designers and engineers.
